Abstract Submission Guidelines – Poster Presentations

1. Overview

We welcome the submission of scientific abstracts for poster presentation at the 1st Thoracic Oncology Symposium. This is an opportunity for healthcare professionals and researchers to share clinical experiences, research findings, and innovations in thoracic oncology.

3. Topics of Interest

Abstracts should be related to one or more of the following topics:

Risk Factors, Prevention & Epidemiology
Tumor Biology, Pathology and Biomarkers
Diagnosis and Staging
Systemic Therapy
Radiation Therapy
Thoracic Surgery
Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, Thymoma and Other Thoracic Tumors
Multidisciplinary Care: Including Nursing, Allied Health and Palliative Care

4. Abstract Requirements

  • Language: English
  • Word limit: Maximum 300 words (excluding title and authors)
  • Format:
    • Title: Limited to 20 words in UPPER CASE
    • Submitting Author: Full first and family name, email, institutional affiliation (including department/institute, hospital, city and country).
      • The submitting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.
      • The submitting author must be listed as the first author.
    • Coauthors: Full first and family names, institutional affiliations (including department/institute, hospital, city and country).
      • There is NO limit to the number of authors for each abstract submitted
      • Additions or deletions of author names are not permitted after abstract submission.
    • Presenter: Ideally, the author who submits the abstract should also be the one to present it at the symposium. In cases where a different coauthor will be presenting, the contact information of the presenting author must be provided.
    • Recommended structure:
      • Background / Objective
      • Methods
      • Results
      • Conclusions
  • Figures/Tables: Not allowed within the abstract; may be included in the final poster
  • Restrictions:
    • Encore Abstracts are not accepted.
    • Company or product names are not allowed in the title.
    • The material should not have been published, or presented at any international meeting before, nor submitted to another meeting during the same period.
    • The abstract should not use abbreviations, which are not commonly accepted within the thoracic medical/surgical literature. Commonly accepted abbreviations within the thoracic literature will be accepted (i.e. PFT, FEV1, VATS, QT, RT, IO, etc). However, other medical acronyms (i.e. - bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS)) should be first spelled out.
    • There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit.

5. Evaluation Criteria

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the Scientific Committee based on the following:

Scientific and clinical relevance
Clarity and structure
Originality and innovation
Methodological rigor

The organizing committee reserves the right to reject abstracts that do not meet the submission criteria

Accepted authors will be notified via email.


6. Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • Recommended Poster size: A0 (Portrait) – 84.1 cm x 118.9 cm
  • Language: English
  • Printing: To be arranged by the author
  • Setup and removal instructions: Will be provided upon acceptance
    • Author attendance: At least one author must be present during the assigned poster session. Each presenting author is required to be registered in the CCAD Thoracic Oncology Symposium.

7. Certificates & Awards

  • A Certificate of Presentation will be provided to the presenting author.
  • The top three presenters will be awarded during the awards ceremony on Saturday, November 29. However, the number of awards may be reduced depending on the number and quality of the abstracts received.
